If you cannot verify a patient’s IHI details this could be due to incorrect details either held in RxOne or provided by the patient’s doctor.

IHI is compulsory for paperless scripts. A paperless script cannot be finished without a validated IHI. There are checks in RxOne to ensure not only the IHI number itself is valid but also the IHI is attached to the right patient. RxOne uses the combinations of patient Medicare Number, DVA number, DoB, first name and last name to search for the patient’s IHI in the HI system when a patient IHI is missing.

When you click on ‘Find IHI’ and IHI is not found please double check with the patient that their details are correct, or you can compare the patient details with the patient details on the ‘Dr Info’ tab. An existing IHI is required to be validated once every 24 hours (this is a new requirement from the HI system). RxOne uses the patient first name, last name and IHI number to validate the existing IHI with HI system. If the validation fails, please remove the incorrect IHI from the patient info and double check that the patient’s first name and last name are correct. You can compare the patient’s first name, last name and IHI with what’s on the ‘Dr Info’ tab.

In the image above the patient’s first name has come through from the doctor as Alena J. The IHI system returned an error to RxOne, and therefore the IHI could not be saved.

In the Personal Information tab for the patient, try entering the person’s name as it would be recorded by Medicare / IHI, and then click Find IHI on the Pastients Dispensary Information tab.
