RxOne updates for 12 month prescriptions
Prescription date
· The prescription date is automatically downloaded from ePrescription.
· For manual script entry, the prescription date defaults to today’s date. This behaviour is unchanged from current practice.
Extended period script validation
Scripts are now validated for extended periods:
· If the total supply (including repeats) exceeds 90 days (or 180 days for oral contraceptives), a confirmation prompt is displayed.
· This ensures long-period scripts are processed according to the correct rules for repeat dispensing and related checks.
Repeats changes
· The repeat count limit has been increased to allow up to 998 repeats.
· For all scripts with a prescription date on or after 1 February 2026, the repeat expiry will default to one calendar year, even if the total period of supply is less than 12 months.
· Repeat codes 1, 2, T, C, H and V will use the same default repeat expiry date.
Stat dispensing
· Stat dispensing is not affected by the 12-month script change; the maximum supply per dispensing remains three months.
· An extra note has been added to the Stat Dispensing window as a reminder.
· If the number of repeats entered results in a total supply of more than 90 days, a confirmation prompt is displayed.
Special Authority rules check
Special Authority (SA) validity is checked using the Pharmac rule chart (see below).
With Dose/ Frequency provided:
When dispensing repeats after SA expiry, and a 90-day supply has already been given:
A prompt is displayed.
NSS (No Subsidy Status) is automatically applied, and a script audit is created.
When Stat dispensing repeats for a drug with SA after expiry, and the total quantity exceeds 90 days:
An alert is displayed for review.
If confirmed, the full quantity is marked as NSS in accordance with Pharmac rules.
Without Dose/ Frequency provided:
The SA-expired prompt and NSS are applied only if the repeat dispense date is more than 90 days after the initial dispense date.
SmartClaim
· Smartclaim can now handle a 3-digit suffix
· When a claim is submitted, the first dispense date will be checked against the prescription date to ensure the prescription meets legal requirements.
