[Revised May 2015]

To edit an existing Extemp formula.

  • When the Drug box is highlighted during normal dispensing of a script, select the Extemp button. If any other drug details are on the screen at this time they will be deleted.

  • Select the extemp required, either by typing its code, by pressing the <up/down arrow cursor keys> and selecting, or by clicking on the arrow on the RHS and selecting.

  • Use <tab> or click on the grid and change whatever you want.

    • If changing quantities, set to 0% the ingredient you wish to be to volume so that RxOne knows which one to adjust.

  • Accept Ok.

There is an option not to add an ingredient to the sum of the volume, e.g. when using 50 Azathioprine 50mg tablets and making up to volume with 50 ml of Ora-Blend Suspension, the tablets only occupy minimal or no volume.  Tick "Dont Count to Volume" and it will allow you to use 50ml of Ora-Blend suspension.

To add an ingredient

  • Enter the new ingredient on the first blank line.

  • Change the ingredient that you wish to be to volume to 0% so that RxOne knows which one to adjust.

  • Select OK to save the changes to this extemp.

To delete an ingredient

  • Highlight the ingredient to be removed and press <del> key.

  • Change the ingredient you wish to be to volume to 0% so that RxOne knows which one to adjust.

  • Select OK to save the changes to this extemp.

To edit an Extemp code

Extemp codes are a label referring to a particular extemp, and so cannot be changed directly. However, the same effect can be obtained by creating a new extemp using the desired new code, and letting the old code be no longer used.

If the old code is wanted for other re-use, edit the formula to reflect the new use. See the note below.

Editing an extemp changes the formula of all scripts dispensed previously with this formula... create a new extemp instead of editing if you wish to have them left with the old formula.
