A script will be excluded from the claim if it lacks a Pharmacode on which HealthPAC can pay. This needs to be fixed before it can be paid.

Invalid Pharmacode on Single item (non extemp) scripts

If an Own drug with no Pharmacode (or an invalid Pharmacode) has been dispensed the item cannot be claimed since the pricing office will not pay on an unrecognised item. SmartClaim will exclude it from the claim and show it in the exception report as Invalid Pharmacode.

To correct

Assign a valid correct Pharmacode to the drug card, or edit the script and choose another drug which does have a valid code. Run the exception report again to confirm that it is now claimable.

Invalid pharmacode on extemp mixture

Dispensed as single item.

The Extemp may have been dispensed using the standard (single item) drug lookup during dispensing rather than by using the Extemp button, and a new single item stock card created for what is actually an Extemp requiring a list of ingredients. The message Invalid pharmacode will appear in the failed items of the exception report when preparing a claim as the item will not (cannot) have pharmacodes for many items.

To correct

Edit the script and select the appropriate extemp by using the Extemp button. If necessary, create a new extemp. Run the exception report again to confirm that it is now claimable.

Dispensed using incomplete ingredient stock card

Someone has not been able to find a stray ingredient and has created a new drug card for the ingredient, but without all the information required for a claim. Eg, the pharmacode could be missing, or the item might have been NSS but not marked as such, and so the computer is looking for the pharmacode.

To correct

Edit the script and change from the faulty ingredient to one that has all the required information. Run the exception report again to confirm that it is now claimable.
