Security Cards

Barcoded Security Cards can be used to log into RxOne. These can be obtained from HealthSoft or you can use you own.

To set up a security card

There are 2 ways to add a security card:

Modify Staff Utility

  • From the Home Screen type 'Modify Staff' in the search box, or go to Main Menu, Tools, Utilities, Staff Utilities, Modify Staff. Select the person the card is for.

  • Select Modify, then "Change Barcode" (if they have an existing barcode, scan this into the Old Barcode Field).

  • Then scan the new barcode into the "New Barcode" field then into the "Confirm New Barcode field".

  • Select OK to save the changes.

RxOne Editor

  • From the Home Screen, type 'RxOne Editor' in the search box or go to Main Menu, Tools, Utilities, Other Utilities, RxOne Editor. Select ‘Staff’ from the list to edit. Select the staff member from the staff list, and either double click on the staff member to select them, or highlight them and select ‘edit’.

  • To add or change a barcode, select the ‘Change Barcode’ button.

  • If setting a barcode for the first time, leave the ‘Old Barcode’ field blank, or if changing a barcode, enter/scan the old barcode into the ‘Old Barcode’ field. Enter/scan the new barcode in the ‘New Barcode’ field.

  • Click 'Save' to update.

To use a security card

When asked for a staff ID, scan the barcode.

N.B. For security reasons:

  1. It is advisable not to have any reference to your pharmacy on security cards.

  2. The card should not show the barcode number (this could be copied down and used).

  3. Any unused cards should be removed from RxOne

  4. All cards must look similar to prevent people from recognizing an important card e.g. the manager's card.
