RxOne Compounding Update Nov2024

RxOne Compounding Update

Dear Pharmacy Managers:

Over the next few days, you will receive an update containing the following:

Compounding Custom Price Maintenance

You can now use the ‘Compounding Custom Prices Maintenance’ to do the following

  1. Search and view the custom prices for all formulations (search by formulation name or formulation containing certain ingredient(s). This can be used for quoting purposes.

  2. Edit a single custom price

  3. Bulk edit custom prices.

  4. Add new custom prices.

This utility replaces the Custom Prices Report which has limited functionality.

From the RxOne Home Screen Search box, type ‘Compounding Custom Prices Maintenance’. Enter the formulation you wish to bring up the custom prices for. Select ‘OK’.

Edit a single custom price

Double click or select ‘Edit’ to edit the existing custom prices

Make any changes and click ‘Save’ to save changes.

Bulk Edit Custom Prices

Highlight selected custom prices and click ‘Bulk Edit Price’

Edit the custom prices as per the instructions on the screen. Click ‘Save’ to save the changes.

Create New Custom Prices

Select ‘New’, search the formulation you wish to create the new custom prices for.

This will add the formulation to the previous list of custom prices.

Double click or select ‘Edit’ to edit the selected custom price, click ‘Save’ to save the changes.

Formulation Screen (Coming Soon)

A new formulation screen is coming soon and can be accessed directly from the RxOne Home Screen. Once the formulation screen is opened, it will appear on the top menu of the Home Screen next to the search box. If you have navigated away from the formulation screen and wish to go back, select the ‘Formulation’ again.

The new formulation is not for dispensing compounded scripts. It is used for editing existing templates or to create new formulation templates.

To access the new formulation screen, type ‘Formulation’ in the RxOne Home Screen Search box.

Search the formulation you wish to edit or select ‘New’ to create a new template.

The new formulation screen works similarly to the formulation screen from RxOne Dispense. The key difference is the new formulation screen is not tied to any ingredient batches.

Modify the template name

Formulation Name is not editable by default for existing templates. If you need to edit the template name, select ‘Edit Name’.

Modify the composition of the template

Use the ‘Add’/ ‘Remove’ button to add or remove ingredients/devices or modify the strength / weight / percentage of the ingredients on the screen.

Ingredient Costs

Ingredient costs come from the Stockcard Average Cost. This is different to the formulation screen from Dispense where the batch costs are used.

Custom Prices

Custom Prices can be added / removed / modified from this screen.

Pricing Options

‘Patient Charge’ is an estimated patient charge based on the cost of the ingredients and devices plus the markup associated with the chosen pricing options.

‘Formula Cost’ is an estimated material cost (ingredient costs + device costs).

Created By / Approved By

Select the button ‘Create By’ to enter the ID of the staff member who created this template. Select the button ‘Approved By’ to enter the ID of the pharmacist approved this template.

Once the template has been approved, only staff members with the permission ‘Allow changes to CompoundPro/Formulas’ can edit the template.

Instruction to create a new template (F3) is located from the ‘Utilities’ menu.

Tips/Hover

Hovering the mouse over the text displays tips. For example hovering the mouse over the ‘No. Containers’ shows what this functionality is for.

Save Template

Select ‘Save and Exit’ to save the template. Answer ‘Yes’ to save the changes. Any changes to the existing template will be saved and recorded in the ‘Formulation Audit Log’.

Error /Invalid Data

Any error or invalid data will be highlighted with a red border and the ‘Save And Exit’ button will be disabled. Hover the mouse over the ‘Save and Exit’ button to fix the errors.

An example of an error would be the ingredient is missing the packing stat for the capsule size the template is using. To enter the missing packing stat, highlight the ingredient and press F4 or select from the ‘Utilities’ > ‘Edit Packing Stat For Selected Item’. You will need to remove the ingredient and re-add it to the template after any changes to the packing stat.

Batches

The stock on hand and a list of historical batches is available from the ‘Batches’ tab. This is information only and details cannot be edited. Edit the batch detail using the Stockcard instead.

Mixture Steps

Formulation Procedures can be attached / removed from the formulation from the ‘Mixture Step’ tab. The procedure steps are information only and cannot be edited. Please use the ‘RxOne Editor’ > ‘Formulation Procedure’ to modify the details instead.

Mixture SOP

A Formulation SOP can be attached / removed from the formulation from the ‘Mixture SOPs’ tab. The SOP itself is information only and cannot be edited. Please use the ‘RxOne Editor’ > ‘SOPS’ to modify the individual SOP instead.

Dispense – use scanned batch barcode

In RxOne Dispense Options there is a new global option called ‘If incorrect batch scanned swap for scanned batch’.

This is for scenarios where the script is finished with Melatonin USP batch A, but technician is using batch B in the lab to do the scanning and weighing.

When the option is off

When scanning a batch that does not match the batch selected, a message will show and alert you the wrong batch is scanned, and it will also ask you if you want to use the scanned batch instead, answer ‘Yes’ will change the batch used to the scanned batch.

When the option is on

Batch used will be automatically swapped using the batch scanned without any prompt.

This feature saves time for technicians correcting batches if the batch used in the lab is different to what was selected at the time of entering the script.

This ‘Dispense Options’ can also be accessed from the Formulation Screen menus.
