Cautionary Notes

To print the C&A notes a label by default.

From the main Dispense screen go to Options, Print Options, Print C&A Note on label

 Override of C&A notes

  • No matter what the default option, C&A notes can be individually switched on and off for a particular script during dispensing by clicking the "C&A note" box on the 'Status' panel where the C&A label text is displayed.

 Optional manual C&A note

Any C&A note can be printed on any script by adding the C&A note number to the 'sig'. E.g. "2 tds8" will produce "TWO three times daily" and C&A Note Number 8, overriding any default C&A note that might exist for the drug on this occasion only. Note, no space between 'tds' and '8' oin this example.

Shortened dates etc This 'manual' method will also mean that any line on a label that ends with a number will be interpreted as a request for a C&A label and the number truncated. Eg, a line that ends "... until 12/12/05" will be taken as a request for C&A label No 5, and the "05" is removed leaving ".... until 12/12/". Prevent this by adding a full stop, "... until 12/12/05." so that the last character is NOT a number.

Definition of C&A note

  • The C&A note that will be offered for a particular drug is defined on the drug card.
