Intensive Testing Claims
Original: March 2002
 Pharmacies testing a pre-release version of 'RxOne' before a major change to the PBS can test daily rather than waiting for the end of the batch to find out if something is being misinterpreted. This is optional, and involves doing a New claim only a day or so into the batch, then Redoing the claim every day or so up to the end of the batch. Each test 'claim' will include all scripts from the start of the batch to the current time, so by looking at the latest scripts correct operation can be confirmed.
Â
To do intensive testing;
RxOne Start > Tools > Claims > New Claim
For subsequent test on the same batch select Redo Claim
Â
It will ask date of the 'End of the period' which should be the actual end, Eg, if asking for a test claim on 2/11/97 the date of the end-of-period should be 15/11/97.
It will ask for a floppy disk, highlighting the drive label. Put a floppy disk in A: drive and if necessary over type with A .
Once finished it will read the claim back from the floppy disk and display 'Disk claim contents' and 'Failed items'. This list displayed is that off the floppy disk, not off the hard drive, for certainty that what you are seeing is what is claimed. A claim can be read in off a floppy disk any time by selecting
View claim, and choosing the particular batch from the list.
Once displayed, click on the scroll buttons to the RHS of each list, and scroll through to satisfy yourself that the claimed items are what you expected to see, and that the failed items failed for legitimate reasons. Correct reasons for failure to claim are;
Private item
Phoned script still outstanding (will automatically claim on first batch after the 'Script Owing' box is unticked on edit item)
Drugs owing (will claim when no longer owing)
Notes;
On a normal claim you would first do an Exception report, to allow items that will otherwise be excluded to be corrected. This can also be done on a test claim if you wish.
Do not become too accustomed to Redoing a claim... normal procedure is to make up a claim once only using 'New claim'.
There is no necessity do this intensive testing, it is an option for those doing testing.
Make clear to anyone who observes you doing intensive testing that it is your choice to do this during the early stages and not a normal part of Claims to be spending time on the computer every few days.
