Cadmus Eftpos Installation
[Revised Aug 05 - Legacy Help Files].
This installation requires a technical professional, or someone with a high level of technical expertise
To install 'Cadmus' EFTPoS
Main Menu > Options > PoS Settings
In the Integrated EFTPoS drop down, select Cadmus.
You will need the following:
A release code from the help-desk,
The serial port the Cadmus unit is plugged into
The 'Merchant number'.
NOTE; This is NOT the user's customer merchant number, but a number from 1-8 that reflects the number in the Cadmus Unit that your primary merchant number is logged against. Usually one.
'Unable to use com port' msg
If you get a message 'Unable to use the com port', there may be another program with control of the port (especially likely if the user is changing EFTPoS suppliers, the previous one's comms may have control of the port) or there is a problem with mscomm32.ocx or mscomm32.oca.
mscomm32.ocx and mscomm32.oca
An incorrect version of mscomm32.ocx may be present (diagnose by looking at syslog.txt within the c:\PhcyPro folder, which will sometimes (but not always) pick up this fault). It is known that mscomm32.ocx version 6.00.8169 WILL work, with other versions it is unknown whether they will work. Or mscomm32.ocx may be missing.
Fixing.
Copy the correct version ocx to c:\windows\system\ & manually register this with regsvr.
Then also copy the mscomm32.oca into the c:\windows\system
Other software taking the port
If still unable to get access to the com port, they may have had another eftpos vendors s/w installed. At least one other supplier uses an application that takes control of the com port on boot up into windows, this will need to be disabled using msconfig. Disable but do not remove other software... if you encounter a major problem you may need to revert to the old system to keep the business operational while working through the problem.
